Christmas brings family and friends together. And with all the buzz, activities and festivities the holiday season brings, we need to be in tip-top shape. Here are a few tips to keep you on track this holiday season.
Reduce Stress. Buying gifts and preparing a feast for all parties here and there are among the few many things that bring about a lot of stress. Have a budget and work with it so you don’t feel pressured to over-spend. Plan your shopping trips and holiday schedule too so that you still have ample time to rest and relax.
Avoid hangovers. A hangover is nature’s way of telling you that you’ve lost essential vitamins and nutrients after having a good time. Food rich in Vitamin B are vital to the nervous system, while Vitamins C and E help detoxify and aid the liver in breaking down the alcohol in your body. Ripe banana is a natural antacid which can help your stomach, it also has magnesium and sugar that ease your headache and lose that feeling of light-headedness.
Exercise. Exercise is always stress-relieving and energy-boosting. This will help you stay physically and mentally prepared for hundreds of things you need to do during the holiday season. If you’re really not a gym-buff, try doing low-impact activities like brisk-walking, jogging or biking for 1-2 hours.
Drink smoothies or fruit shakes. These are easy to prepare and the healthiest way to get goodness in your system. Use fruits packed with potassium to help lower blood pressure or those rich in Vitamin E which fight heart disease and bad cholesterol. Smoothies taste good and make you feel good!
Get enough rest and sleep. Missing out on sleep can lead to colds and other seasonal disease. Whether you’ve been up and about all day from shopping, cooking or partying, make sure you give yourself time to wind down and tuck yourself under a warm cover so your body and brain can recharge before you take off again.
