July signifies nutrition month and this year’s theme is: “First 1,000 days ni baby, pahalagahan para sa malusog na kinabukasan”. The National Nutrition Council (NNC) aims to highlight the significance of the first 1,000 days of life, which roughly covers a child’s first three years. NNC has called the first 1,000 days the “golden window of opportunity” for complete child development.
The theme brought me back to my first three years as a mom. I vowed to myself to breastfeed my son until he turns 1 year old and because I already built the habit of eating healthy while I was still pregnant, I was able to continue breastfeeding him until he was 3! I was able to take care of my son because I took care of myself first. It certainly wasn’t without any sacrifices, but I considered those years my healthiest and I did it for my son’s well-being!
Here are some tips on how I was able to keep my appetite for good health going:
As moms, we tend to look after our children’s welfare to the extent that we forget ourselves. Remember that a healthy mom begets a healthy child, so be sure to take care of yourself as well.
