Life is full of poignant moments that show how good it is.
The next time you are at the arrival area of the international airport, observe those who like you are welcoming back loved ones.
Try to spot a lone party with neck craning to catch the first glimpse of his or her OFW spouse who had been gone for a while. As the arriving passenger emerges from the customs area, watch how their eyes meet and unleash a host of emotions that seemingly attempt to make up for the long period of separation. Unfortunately, that reunion will last for only a while as the OFW needs to fly back to his or her place of work.
Life is good. But it is not perfect.
I am reminded of a college student’s graduation. She earned a good number of accolades while she was still studying, among which was having one of the best thesis in her college department. She should have been perfectly happy were it not for the fact that her college sweetheart and batchmate failed to literally make the grade and had to stay in school for one more summer.
When the graduation ceremony was over, she was surprised to spot her beau in the shadows of one of the university’s halls. She rushed to greet him with both joy and sadness. He, for his part, could not had been happier for her and only wished he could had been in the audience to celebrate with her the milestone in her life.
Life is good. But it is not perfect. Yet, it is precisely this imperfection that allows us to call it life. Otherwise, it would be one long and boring period of existence.
We had been given access to all the grace from above and the tools on earth to enjoy the ups and weather the downs in life. The flood gates to grace are accessed only through fervent prayer.
The tools on earth abound. For instance, financial downs can be weathered through effective planning, and the now affordable cash, debt, risk and wealth management tools like savings accounts, consumer loans, life and non-life insurance, and investments (e.g. bonds, stocks, managed funds).
We do not have to be rich for the access. We just have to reach for the access.
Life is good. Yes, it is not perfect. But we can always make it better.
